Bill Haley (6 juillet 1925 - 9 février 1981) est un des premiers musiciens américain de rock and roll. Il est un des pionniers de ce mouvement avec son groupe Bill Haley & His Comets et leur chanson Rock Around the Clock.
Né sous le nom William John Clifton Haley à Highland Park banlieue de Detroit dans le Michigan, il grandit en Pennsylvanie (certaines sources ajoutent Junior à son nom mais son frère aîné a déclaré que c'était une erreur). En 1946, Haley rejoint son premier groupe professionnel, les Down Homers. Il sort quelques titres de country dans les années 1940 pour des labels, comme Cowboy Records. En 1948-1949 il travaille aussi comme musicien itinérant et DJ. En 1951 avec son groupe The Saddlemen il change de style et enregistre des reprises de Jackie Brenston comme Rocket 88 et Rock this Joint (Jimmy Preston).
