Ahmed Deedat est un théologien musulman (1918-2005) né à Tadkeshvar dans la Province de Surat en Inde. À partir de ses neuf ans, il a vécu en Afrique du Sud. Il a suivi des études en partie en école islamique.
Il travailla comme vendeur dans un magasin, puis fut enseignant de religion comparée et il partit en 1949 au Pakistan ; trois ans plus tard, il revient en Afrique du Sud où il travaille pour une usine pendant sept an en tant que directeur.
En 1954, il entame une carrière de conférencier sur l'Islam.
Vers 1958 il fonde "As Salaam" (la paix), un centre de formation pour musulmans.
Il meurt le 8 aout 2005, suite à une longue maladie.
