Joseph Kabila Kabange, né le 4 juin 1971 à Hewa Bora, est le président de la République démocratique du Congo depuis l'assassinat de l'ancien président, son père Laurent-Désiré Kabila, le 16 janvier 2001, au cours de la Deuxième guerre du Congo. Il est également à la tête de l'Alliance pour la majorité présidentielle (AMP). Le 27 novembre 2006, il est déclaré par la Cour suprême de Justice gagnant du deuxième tour de l'élection présidentielle, organisé le 29 octobre 2006, devenant ainsi le premier Président de la République à être élu au suffrage universel direct.
