Actrice et Artiste ( Canadienne) Mia Kirshner est née à Toronto au Canada. Sa mère est une enseignante d’origine Bulgare et son père un journaliste Elle envisage pendant un moment de suivre les traces de ce dernier, avant de changer assez tôt pour la comédie.
Elle débute au début des années 90, alors qu’elle a à peine 15 ans. Mia enchaîne plusieurs rôles dans des séries télévisées au Canada, puis aux Etats Unis. Son premier succès au cinéma, elle l’obtient avec le réalisateur canadien Denys Arcand, dans « De l’amour et des restes humains » en 1993. L’année suivante elle joue une strip-teaseuse pour Atom Egoyan dans « Exotica ». En 1996, elle donne la réplique à Vincent Perez dans « The Crow : La cité des anges », puis à Dustin Hoffman et John Travolta l’année d’après dans « Mad City » de Costa-Gavras et à Sophie Marceau dans « Anna Karénine ».
Début 2000 elle se lance dans les films pour ados avec « Sex academy ...
