Artiste et écrivain ( Francais) Né le 04 septembre 1768Décédé le 04 juillet 1848 (à l'âge de 79 ans) François René, vicomte de (1768-1848) est né à Saint-Malo le 4 septembre 1768. À partir de 1777, il vécut dans le château familial de Combourg. Destiné d'abord à la carrière de marin, conformément à la tradition familiale, il était par tempérament tenté bien davantage par la prêtrise et par la poésie. A 16 ans, il traverse, auprès de sa soeur préférée Lucile, une période fiévreuse et exaltée et prend un brevet de sous-lieutenant (1786), est présenté au roi Louis XVI à Versailles et fréquente les salons parisiens. À Paris, il assiste aux premiers bouleversements de la Révolution ; est d'abord séduit par les débats d'idées mais prend en horreur les violences qu'elle engendre. En avril 1791, par goût de l'aventure, il s'embarque pour l'Amérique et y voyage quelques mois. Il en rapporte de volumineuses notes qui allaient nourrir ses œuvres littéraires, notamment son Voyage en Amérique (1826)...
