Lyndon Baines Johnson, (1908 - 1973), est le trente-sixième président des États-Unis d'Amérique. Il succède en 1963 à John F. Kennedy assassiné en cours de mandat. Il est élu en 1964.
Connu sous ses initiales, LBJ, il est le président qui a dû gérer la première partie de la guerre du Viêt Nam.
Lyndon Baines Johnson naît à Stonewall, Texas, le 27 août 1908. Ses parents, Samuel Johnson et Rebkah Baines ne possèdent qu’une modeste ferme et ne peuvent lui offrir que le minimum. Il fréquente l’école publique et obtient son diplôme de fin d’études secondaires au lycée de Johnson City en 1924.
En 1927, Johnson s’inscrit au « Southwest Texas State Teachers College » pour devenir enseignant.
