Elizabeth Montgomery est née à Los Angeles le 15 avril 1933, fille de l’acteur Robert Montgomery et de l’actrice de théâtre et de cinéma Elizabeth Allen. Elizabeth est une enfant privilégiée, son petit frère Robert et elle ont eu tout le confort de la classe aisée : bonnes écoles, équitation et compagnie célèbre. Elle fait ses études scolaires à l'école pour filles de Westlake, un établissement typique de Californie du sud.
