Artiste et Chef d'orchestre ( Américain) Né le 01 mars 1904Disparu le 15 décembre 1944Glenn Miller (Alton Glenn Miller) est un tromboniste mais surtout chef d'orchestre de jazz américain, né le 1er mars 1904 à Clarinda (Iowa) et disparu, probablement au dessus de la Manche, le 15 décembre 1944.
Né en 1904, Glenn Miller vit le trombone vers l’âge de 11 ans. Vers 1921, encore lycéen, il a ses premiers contrats professionnels dans un orchestre de dixieland, les « Senter’s Sentapeeds ». Il se produit dans plusieurs orchestres locaux. Il abandonne ses études en 1924, pour rejoindre la formation de Ben Pollack. À l’époque, on trouve aussi dans cet orchestre un certain Benny Goodman. En 1928, Glenn Miller s’installe à New York où il joue pour Pollack, mais aussi pour Red Nichols et Paul Ash. Il commence aussi à écrire des arrangements pour ces différents orchestres.
