Derek Boogaard (né le 23 juin 1982 à Saskatoon, dans la province de la Saskatchewan au Canada - mort le 13 mai 2011 à Minneapolis, Minnesota aux États-Unis2) est un joueur professionnel de hockey sur glace canadien3, connu comme bagarreur et frère de Aaron Boogaard, des Penguins de Pittsburgh.
En 1999, il fait ses débuts dans la Ligue de hockey de l'Ouest avec les Pats de Regina. Après cinq matches, il prend la direction des Cougars de Prince George. Dès sa première saison, il accumule 166 minutes de pénalité. Après sa seconde saison et 245 minutes de pénalité, il participe au repêchage d'entrée dans la Ligue nationale de hockey. Il est alors choisi par le Wild du Minnesota à titre de 202e joueur repêché4. Il continue tout de même dans la WHL, sans faire ses débuts dans la LNH.
