Artiste, Chanteuse et Musicienne ( Américaine) Née le 12 avril 1898Décédée le 13 février 1976 (à l'âge de 77 ans) Alice-Joséphine Pons, dite Lily Pons, née à Draguignan le 12 avril 1898 et morte à Dallas le 13 février 1976, était une chanteuse soprano française naturalisée américaine (1941).
Elle débute à Mulhouse en 1928 dans Lakmé sous la direction de Reynaldo Hahn. Elle porte une robe d'une audace inouïe qui lui dévoile hardiment le nombril. Elle se distingue au Metropolitan Opera de New-York en 1931 dans l’Air de la folie (Lucia di Lammermoor) où elle reçoit un accueil délirant du public. Elle reste 28 ans au metropolitan. Elle épouse en 1938 le chef d'orchestre André Kostelanetz avec qui elle organise des tournées de concert populaire. Elle chante aux Indes, en Chine et en Birmanie pour les soldats alliés durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Dans ses « entretiens avec André Parinaud » en juin 1963, Marlène Dietrich affirme que Lily Pons était la seule actrice avec elle au front pour soutenir l...
